In the heart of France, the Château of Saint-Augustin has been rebuilded at the beginning of the 18th century by Michel Cadier, first baron of Veauce and ancestor of the present owner. The baron of Veauce made of Saint-Augustin his main hunting rendez-vous and was coming here three months a year just for hunting. Later, at the 19th century, the count Chaillon de Jonville transformed Saint-Augustin in a comfortable castle. Today, the Château of Saint-Augustin is listed, inside and outside, by the Monuments Historiques of France, and the chapel, the honour court are listed aswell. Actually, it is one of the most important historical monuments of the region Bourbonnais. During the visit to the château, you will discover the stables and the saddle-room, the chapel, a large hall decorated with hunting trophies, the italian dining- room, the drawing-rooms and the old kitchen. After the visit, you can walk in the parc and say hello to Bambi and the other animals. You are welcome to Saint-Augustin at every moment during the year if you want to enjoy the charm of the rooms and the delicious dishes prepared by the hostess.
If you expect from a castle hotel that it looks inside the way the outside suggests then you have come to the right place at the Chateau de Saint Augustin. There are 5 gorgeous historic guest rooms with all the mod cons including a comfortable tiled bath. In addition, the former hunting chateau offers one thing above all: The charm of authenticity. You could easily spend hours strolling through the estate and would still come across new and interesting things, such as the castle’s chapel or the old kitchen.
